David Mesnick of PT360 Releases eBook on Understanding Sacroiliac Joint Dysfunction

Atlanta, Georgia, September 12, 2016 – David Mesnick, PT, OCS, cMDT, and founder of PT360 physical therapy centers has just released an eBook on Sacroiliac Joint Dysfunction (SI Joint or SIJD). The eBook, An Integrative Guide to Sacroiliac Joint Dysfunction was written to help create a better understanding of lower back and buttock pain.

Millions of people suffer from SIJD though many may not know that is the source of their pain. According to a 2005 study by Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions and Walter Reed Army Medical Center, 20% to 25% of all chronic lower back pain comes from the sacroiliac or SI joint. Because the diagnosis is tricky, SIJD is commonly misdiagnosed as a disc problem or other lower back issue. Additionally, SIJD does not show up on CT scans, X-rays or MRIs.

SIJD results in localized pain along the tailbone, lower back, and buttock. It usually occurs from a fall on the buttock, lifting/twisting injury, osteoarthritis, prior lumbar fusion, or childbirth. Symptoms can range from pain at the joint itself, in the lower back, or even down the thigh and groin. There may be a generalized stiffness or burning sensation at the joint. Other commonplace symptoms are lower back pain while climbing stairs and difficulty lying or sitting on one side that is relieved when the weight is shifted to the other side. Treatment options vary based upon each situation. Generally, treatments are of a non-surgical nature and may include physical therapy that uses a variety of manual therapy techniques, stretching, exercise, dry needling, and modalities to address the source of a patient’s pain.

To help those suffering from SIJD, Mesnick is making his new eBook free of charge. “So many people have SIJD and don’t even know it, all they know is the pain they are feeling. If my book helps just one person be diagnosed and treated for SIJD then my time was well spent,” explained Mesnick when asked why offer the book at no charge.
